I have lost count of the number of clients who have told me a "friend" told them they would be fine if they stuck to the back roads, or drove just under the speed limit or ate a number of mints prior to getting into their vehicle. The "friend" will not be paying your legal bill, increased insurance premiums or suffering the loss of driving privileges. It is just not the smell of alcohol that the police notice and they require very little to form a reasonable suspicion that you have alcohol in your body. As of December 2018 they don't even need that to compel you to provide a breath sample into a screening device.

"When I went into internal affairs and saw what was going on, I had no idea," he said. "I was working 28 years with blinders on ... I thought, you know what, maybe I should start seeing the other side ... Maybe these people deserve a little bit more in terms of representation and having someone look at their cases with a fresh set of eyes that knows." ~ James Edward Lowry
